«Anyone can practice yoga as long as they breathe.»
Yogasutra 2.39
Karin Sallmann Retzlaff
During my work as a Flight Attendant at Swissair I came into contact with the Indian culture and yoga for the first time. Both fascinatetd me, which led me to my first yoga lesson in 1991. I was immediately inspired by my charismatic yoga teacher and her yoga practice.
In the following years, yoga became my constant companion during my travels – everywhere in the world I could practice my then rather simple exercise sequences and found a nice and important balance to my exciting, but often also hectic daily work routine.
After family-related interruptions, I started attending a yoga class regularly again in 2015. In 2018, my desire to fundamentally deepen my knowledge of yoga and learn as much as I could about it to be able to teach myself intensified. I started my four-year education at Lotos Yoga in Basel, which I completed at the end of 2022. Since 2019 I have been teaching a small group in Oberwil.
Yoga has become an integral and important part of my life that I would not want to miss. For me, yoga means a long and inspiring journey, through which I am allowed to discover new horizons again and again – albeit in a different way than by flying.
Since I teach English as an adult educator and feel very comfortable in the language, I teach one lesson per week in English (upon request).
I am married and the mother of a son. We live with a dog and two cats in Therwil. In addition to yoga, my interests are in skiing, scuba diving, golf, psychology and spirituality.
